Ethical Manufacturing & Justice for Workers
Pressure to quickly produce increasing quantities of cheap textiles has led the apparel industry to allow some of the most unethical trade practices on the planet; worst examples include child labour (bonded child labour), excessive working hours (twelve hours a day, seven days a week), unsafe and unhygienic working conditions.
To ensure that Pimp My Hoodie does not contribute to the social injustice seen in manufacturing, commonly known as sweatshop labour, even unwittingly we will only work with suppliers and manufactures that make transparent our manufacturing and supply chain with independent audits by the non-profit NGO the ‘Fair Wear Foundation’.
The Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) exists to promote fair labour conditions in the garment industry worldwide. All of our suppliers and manufactures are signed up to the FWF's Code of Labour Practices, and thereby has committed to monitor the factories of our suppliers. The Fair Wear Foundation verifies that the Code of Labour Practices is implemented and respected at the factories.
Organic Fair Trade Practices
Under the Global Organic Textile Standard, farmers and field workers are protected by stringent social criteria and by the ban on the use of poisonous chemicals that can severely damage the health of farmers and their families. Textile workers are protected by the same criteria and also by total traceability across the entire supply chain, from farm to distribution.
Our manufactures are licenced by the Soil Association as suppliers of authentic organic cotton garments.
Environmentally Sustainable
All of the products we supply are certified to the Oeko-Tex 100 Standard, Class I (highest). The Oeko-Tex Standard is a guarantee of the safety of textiles and dyestuffs to human health and to the environment. The standard ensures compulsory wastewater treatment processes protect local watercourses.
Climate Aware
We have measured our organisation's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and reduced them to net zero through internal change and externally, through carbon offsetting in accordance with the requirements of the Carbon Neutral Protocol1 for our type of activity.
